The 1926-27 Romanian Hockey League season was the second season of the Romanian Championship. Hockey Club Roman Bucharest won the championship.[1]

Regional committees in Brasov, Cluj, and Bucharest were each to nominate a regional champion for the final competition by January 5. D. Dolensko, Al. Vogel and S. Nadler were appointed as officials. Meanwhile, the two clubs in Bucharest (HCR and TCR) sought to complement their rosters by obtaining players returning from abroad.

An individual named Bacinski gathered some football teammates, who assembled a team known as Unirea-Tricolor, which immediately registered for the regional championship. Their roster included: Ligner, Ilie Subaseanu, Roland Pfann, and Tico, who were popular names in football. The squad did not participate in the championship in the end.

As the teams from Brasov and Cluj did not pay the enrollment fee of 300 lei by January 12, the winter sports subcommittee decided the championship was to be contested solely by teams from Bucharest.

Bucharest Championship

  • 1/6: Tenis Club Roman Bucharest - Hockey Club Bucharest 1:1 (0:1, 1:0) @ Lake Cisimigu

  • 1/12: Hockey Club Bucharest A beat Unirea Tricolor Bucharest by forfeit
  • 1/12: Hockey Club Bucharest A - Hockey Club Bucharest B 1:1 - final

National Championship

Hockey Club Roman Bucharest and Tenis Club Roman Bucharest, whose organizations consisted of 42 and 20 hockey playing members, respectively, each entered "A" and "B" sides in the championship. TCR was officially formed on December 10, 1926. It was agreed to contest the championship on February 27.

The games were announced in the press, in great detail, emphasizing the novelty that each club would field two teams. Numerous "football fans" attended the matches at Cisimigu.

Hockey Club Roman Bucuresti defeated Tenis Club Bucuresti 3-1 and 6-0, respectively, to claim the title. The Grant brothers were in top form for HCR and scored many goals between them. HCR also won the Cupa Neagu Boerescu, which was named after a former Romanian sportsman.
