It was originally planned to hold the championship in Bucharest from January 19-26, but rain made the ice unplayable, so the competition was relocated to Targu Mures. HC Ciocanul Bucharest won the title on goal differential (which was calculated by dividing goals scored and received and not by differentiation). Heading into their final match against the hosts, Ciocanul was aware that they only needed a draw to clinch the championship, and thus played conservatively.
