The 1931-32 Romanian Hockey League season was the seventh season of the Romanian Championship. Tenis Club Roman Bucharest won the championship by defeating Dragos Voda Cernauti in the final.[1]
Season Overview
The Patinoarul Otelesanu was inaugurated as Romania's first artificial ice rink on December 5, 1931. The rink was available for use by clubs only before 8:00 AM and after 9:00 PM. The entrance fee was 10 euros, as opposed to the two charged to skate on Lake Cisimigu, which remained widely used by schools and small clubs.
The new arena was opened beside a telephone company's building. A hockey player for TCR, Riri Aslan, an engineer for the company, learned that its director, Bobby Tucker, played hockey in the United States growing up. As there were ongoing difficulties within the TCR club, Aslan encouraged Tucker to form a company club for advertising purposes. Tucker agreed and Telefon Club Bucharest was born. Tucker aimed to recruit the best players in the country to play for Telefon Club.
There were three regional championships - Bucharest, Bukovina, and Szekerland - contested prior to the national championship.
