Overview
The Victorian Championship series in Melbourne was held for the 22nd time. The participants were Essendon, Brighton and Hawthorn. The title was won by Hawthorn.
The 21st Goodall Cup Inter-State Series between Victoria and New South Wales was staged from August 1-5, 1936. It was won by New South Wales.
The 14th New South Wales Championship took place in Sydney. St. George, Eastern Suburbs, Western Suburbs, and the Glebe Lions competed. Western Suburbs won the championship. A reserve grade competition was also contested.
