Overview

The Victorian Championship series in Melbourne was held for the 17th time. The participants were Brighton, Essendon, and Hawthorn. The title was won by Essendon.

The 16th Goodall Cup Inter-State Series between Victoria and New South Wales was staged in August 1931. It was won by New South Wales.

The ninth New South Wales Championship took place in Sydney. St. George, Eastern Suburbs, Western Suburbs, and the Glebe Lions competed. St. George won the championship. A reserve grade competition featuring the same clubs was also contested.
