Overview

The Victorian Championship series in Melbourne was held for the 25th time. The participating clubs were the Glaciarium Rangers, and the St. Moritz Flyers. The title was won by the Bombers.

The 24th Goodall Cup Inter-State Series between Victoria and New South Wales was staged from July 29-August 2, 1939. It was won by New South Wales.

The 18th New South Wales Championship took place in Sydney. St. George, North Shore, Eastern Suburbs (Monarchs), Western Suburbs (Panthers), and the Glebe Lions competed. St. George won the championship. There was also a reserve grade competition comprised of A and B divisions contested.
