Overview

The Victorian Championship series in Melbourne was held for the 41st time. The Pirates, Demons, Blackhawks, Tigers, Monarchs, and Hakoah participated. The title was won by the Melbourne Monarchs.

The 32nd New South Wales Championship took place in Sydney. The Prague Bombers, Glebe Lions, St. George, East Monarchs, and West Tigers competed. The Prague Bombers won the Championship.

The 35th Goodall Cup Inter-State Series between Victoria and New South Wales, and the first since 1955, was staged from August 7-9, 1961. Victoria won the cup.
