The 1978 Goodall Cup was the 52nd edition of the inter-state ice hockey series in Australia. Victoria won the cup for the 22nd time.
The competition was played at the Prince Alfred Park Rink in Sydney, New South Wales. Peter Vlaciky of New South Wales won the John Nicholas Trophy as the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament.
