1929 Goodall Cup
The 1929 Goodall Cup was the 14th edition of the inter-state series between Victoria and New South Wales. It was won by New South Wales, who claimed the championship for the 10th time in total. They would retain the trophy until 1947.
The series
- Game one
10 August 1929 The first game of the 1929 interstate ice hockey series was described as being a one-sided affair. New South Wales defeated Victoria 4-0, with Norman Turner scoring 2 goals, James Archibald Brown scoring 1 and K. Raith scoring one.[1][2]
- Game two
12 August 1929 at 8:00pm[3]was the beginning of the second game of the series where New South Wales defeated Victoria in a very one-sided match and were described as being too fast for the Victorian team, with K. Raith scoring 3 goals and Jim Brown and Norman Turner also scoring for New South Wales. Victoria only scored twice with B. Cullen and E. Molony providing the goals.[4]
- Game three
14 August 1929 Victoria defeated New South Wales by a score of 2-0 but the Goodall Cup was already won by the New South Wales team in the second game.[5]

Having won on Saturday night, New South Wales retained the trophy, which it has held since 1923. The third match will be played tomorrow night."

3rd match
"In the third match of the Goodall Cup series, Victoria beat New South Wales by two goals to nil. For Victoria, Kershaw and Cullen scored. It was a fast and spectacular game. The Victorians showed improved form on their displays in the two previous games. This is the first game Victoria has won since 1923 [actually 1924]."
