The 2006 AIHL season was the seventh season of the Australian Ice Hockey League, the fifth in which the Goodall Cup was awarded to the league champions.
The Melbourne Ice mathematically clinched their first ever V.I.P. Cup as minor premiers on 5 August with a 5-3 win over Central Coast on 5 August.
The Newcastle North Stars won their third AIHL championship in four years by defeating the Adelaide Avalanche 4-0 in the final on 3 September.
