The Victorian side was said to be the youngest team ever to participate in the Goodall Cup:
"Victoria will field the youngest team ever to play in an interstate series when they meet New South Wales next week. The Victorian team is also one of the heaviest to represent the State. New South Wales will play Victoria at the Sydney Glaciarium on July 29 and August 3, and at the Ice Palais on July 31 and August 5. The average age of the Victorian team is 23 years and the average weight is 12st, 91b. Five members of the team will make their interstate debut against N.S.W. They are Clarrie King, Basil Hansen, Jack Kille, 'Tich' Donohue, and Warwick Harrison. Many keen judges rate Russell Jones, Victoria's captain, the best ice hockey player Australia has produced."
