The 1953 Goodall Cup was the 32nd edition of the inter-state series between Victoria and New South Wales. It was won by Victoria, who claimed the championship for the 9th time in total. They would retain the trophy until 1963.

"Victoria retained the Goodall Cup when it beat NSW, 5-4, in the Ice Hockey match at the Glaciarium last night. Victoria beat NSW, 8-4, in the first of the three matches on Saturday night. NSW had two of the six man team off the field for penalties win Victoria scored the winning goal in the last period after an even match. Victoria 5 (N. Derrick, D. Cunningham, K. Jose, D. Cunningham assisted by K. Jose, K. Jose assisted by A. Sengotta) beat N.S.W., 4 (R. Hayes, J. McLauchlan, M. Mueller, G. Kuldan assisted by M. Mueller)."

"Victoria outclassed N.S.W., 17-4, in the interstate ice hockey match at the Glaciarium last night. Victoria's score was the highest since N.S.W. won the series in 1934. N.S.W. lost because it lacked a solid defence against Victoria's fast play. Scores were: Victoria 17 (D. Cunningham 3, N. Derrick 3, K. Jose 3, R Amos (Amess) 3, I. Vesely 2, G. Henke 2, A. Sengotta) beat N.S.W., 4 (M. Mueller, R Dewhurst, F Tueller, S Green)."
