SG Cortina dominated the league en route to their second consecutive national title. Cortina opened the year with a 3-2 win against Bolzano and a 7-1 victory over Milano. They earned 21 out of a possible 24 points on the season, only losing points in a 3-3 tie against Bolzano and a 4-3 defeat to Milano.
HC Diavoli Milano was able to secure second place with two narrow 1-0 wins over Gherdëina, who was a surprisingly stout opponent for a team that only earned a single point on the season. They also tied Milano 2-2 earlier in the season.
Gherdëina left the ice during a January 18, 1962, match against Bolzano, following a disputed goal by the latter side that was validated by the referees, Besostri and Saudati. Gherdëina also tied Bolzano 1-1 in a later match, but the FISG later awarded Bolzano a 5-0 forfeit victory.
