Season notes

HC Gherdeina dethroned five-time defending champion SG Cortina with an emphatic 9:1 victory in their final meeting of the season.

A notable occurrence transpired in a game between Diavoli Milano and Cortina, played on January 6, 1969. The Milanese club had no goaltenders available as Franco Viale was suspended and their backup (Favaro) was completing his military service.

Instead of playing their 16-year-old junior goaltender, Diavoli elected to have defenseman Renato Brivio play back and attempt to guard the net as a sixth skater. This strategy was not successful, as Cortina won by a whopping score of 19:2.
