The 1929-30 Serie A season was the fourth season of the Serie A, the top level of ice hockey in Italy. Seven teams participated in the competition, and Hockey Club Milano won the championship by defeating GSD Cortina in the final.

The championship resumed after a two year absence, during which time HC Milano and SC Cortina only played international matches. 1930 was in fact the first true championship, as the previous editions had consisted only of matches played for the Cinzano Cup, whose winner was recognized in the third season as being the Italian champion. The cup was no longer competed for, beginning this season.

The opening rounds of the competition were held in Collalbo, beginning on January 25. Six teams, divided into two groups, participated in the first round. The top team in each group advanced to the final qualification match, whose winner earned the right to face three-time defending champion Hockey Club Milano in the final, which was held in Cortina d'Ampezzo on February 9.

Four new clubs entered the championship this year - Ortisei (where an ice rink had opened in 1924), Societa Patinattori Varese (which was based at Lake Ghirla in Valagnna), SC Ritten, and Circolo Pattinatori Valentino Torino. On the frozen lake of Costalovara, on the plateau of Ritten, the director of the tourist office, Piccini, had imported three hockey sticks, two pucks, and the playing rules from England in 1926. The first meetings between the Ortisei and Ritten clubs took place in 1927. In Torino, Circolo Pattinatori qualified for the championship after beating the other local team, Nord Club.
