The 1962-63 Serie A season was the 29th season of the Serie A, the top level of ice hockey in Italy. Five teams participated in the league, and HC Bolzano won the championship.
Season Overview
HC Bolzano, SG Cortina, and Diavoli Milano were all in the hunt for the title as usual. Cortina split their series' with Bolzano and Milano, with each team winning a game. Bolzano earned the championship by defeating Milano 8-5 at home and tying them 5-5 on the road.
Controversy arose in a 5-5 tie between Milano and Gherdëina. The Milanese had two goals annulled and the club executive, Luigi Bastagini, questioned the officials assigned to the game, who were from Cortina and Bolzano, which both had teams competing for the title. In contrast, the game between Cortina and Bolzano (won 3-2 by the former side), was officiated by two German officials assigned by the FISG, "to maintain the regularity of the match".
SSV Bolzano made their debut in the Serie A this year. The season was a struggle for them, and the club finished winless, even suffering a 19-4 defeat to Milano.
