The IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia are a series of international ice hockey tournament on the continent of Asia. The purpose of the tournament is to provide competitive opportunities for Asian teams that are either in the lower divisions of the IIHF World Championship or do not compete in the World Championship. The first event was held in Hong Kong in 2008, with the second edition held a year later in the United Arab Emirates. A third edition took place on March 29 to April 4, 2010 in Chinese Taipei.[1]
The first women's tournament took place in Shanghai from April 10 to April 14, 2010 and the first University Challenge Cup of Asia took place in Goyang-Si, Seoul] from May 12 to May 14, 2010.[2] Junior (U20) and U18 editions were introduced in 2012.
