The Northern Ohio Hockey Association was not contested in 1910-11, instead, a team known as the Clevelands played exhibition games throughout the year. They visited Michigan, Massachusetts, and New York, and faced numerous teams at home. Case School of Applied Science and Western Reserve University had hockey teams once again. In Canton, a league was organized, though only a few games were played, due to mild weather.

This was the 1910-11 American ice hockey season:

Chicago, Illinois

West Side Hockey Club

The Chicago Ice Palace opened, giving Chicago an artificial ice rink where games could be consistently played. The opening contest at the rink took place on October 8, 1910, with the West Side Hockey Club facing the Tom Murrays.

The Chicago Hockey Association held a meeting on October 24, and it was decided to divide the teams in the league into senior, junior, and intermediate divisions.

The Canadian players on the Illinois Athletic Club severed their ties with the team and formed a new team, the Chicago White Sox, in mid-November.

Cornell and Yale played a three-game series at the Chicago Ice Palace in late December and early January.

The Illinois Athletic Club claimed the (unofficial) Championship of the United States after their 4-game series with Portage Lake, stating they had won the series 14 goals to 13. Portage Lake also claimed victory, counting their 1:0 forfeit loss as a 4:3 win, and thus a 17:16 edge in goals.

Minnesota

The St. Paul Chinooks and Minneapolis Wanderers withdrew from the Twin City Hockey League, bringing an end to its existence. The St. Paul Phoenix played an independent schedule this year. They traveled to Chicago and Cleveland for games, played a home-and-home series against the Duluth Curling Club, and hosted Fort William. The old St. Paul Victorias team reorganized to face the Phoenix on Christmas and New Years Day, but the games had to be cancelled due to inclement weather. The Twin City Interscholastic Championship was won by the St. Paul Central High School. Mechanic Arts came in second, and the Central, West, and East High School's of Minneapolis took third-fifth, respectively.

Pennsylvania

The Greater Pittsburgh Hockey League was formed, comprised of Silver Lake, the Pittsburgh Amateurs, and the Bachelors. With the Duquesne Gardens closed, all games were played outdoors. The first game between the Silver Lake and Bachelor clubs was scheduled to take place on December 24. On January 7, Silver Lake defeated the Amateurs 5-1 in a league game. Due to mild weather conditions, few games actually took place. The Pittsburgh Independents visited Cleveland in early February.

Spokane, Washington

There were talks of Spokane assembling a team to compete in the Rossland Winter Carnival hockey tournament. Ernie McCauherty was involved in picking a team. Among the players willing to make the trip were Staniway, Wurtele, Deakin, Belrose, Robertson, Trezona, Trainer, and Ernie and Tom McCauherty.[1] Spokane decided not to send a team as they were unable to get in shape for the tournament.

The Spokane hockey team and a squad from Sandpoint, Idaho, planned to play a three-game series, beginning on February 19 in Sandpoint.[2] These games did not wind up materializing.
