The Chicago Hockey League was contested this winter, with the Calumet Lacrosse Club, Chicago Hockey Club, Sepoys, and Shamrocks.

Cleveland, Ohio

The Elysium Arena opened in Cleveland on December 3, 1907, providing the city with its first indoor ice rink. The Northern Ohio Hockey Association was formed, comprised of four teams, the Clevelands, Collegians, Ohios, and Bankers. The Clevelands won the championship and the Spalding Trophy, losing only one game on the season. Princeton University, the Duluth Northern Hardware team, Pittsburgh, and the Montreal Wanderers all visited Cleveland this winter.

Michigan

The Copper Country Amateur Hockey Association was organized in early December, comprised of members from Houghton, Hancock, Calumet (Red Jacket), and Laurium. Lake Linden and South Range were also deemed likely to join.[1] Hancock won the league championship. Houghton High School won the UP Interscholastic Championship. The Puck Wedgers again won the Copper Country Intermediate Championship.

In Detroit, the Detroit Athletic Club was active once again, and an Interscholastic Championship was organized. The Michigan Soo played an independent schedule on the season.

Minnesota

The Lake Shore Hockey Club won the Dunbar Cup as Twin City Hockey League champions. The league was composed of the Mic Macs, Chinooks, Laurels, and Lafayettes from St. Paul, the St. Paul Boat Club, Minneapolis Wanderers, and the Lake Shore Hockey Club. The Minneapolis Hockey League was also contested, with the Lake Shore Hockey Club, Wanderers, Lake Harriet Hockey Club, and YMCA playing for a handsome silver cup offered by Wade Burton.

The Duluth Northern Hardware club won the Minnesota State Championship with victories over the St. Paul Mic Macs and the Lake Shore Hockey Club. They went on a tour of Michigan and Ohio in late February.

There was a game played in Butte between the local High School and Dr. Pigot's team on January 5. There were plans for the Helena Hockey Club to face Pigot's team in a series of games, the first of which was scheduled for January 12 in Butte, but these did not materialize.

Pennsylvania

With the demise of the International Professional Hockey League, the Western Pennsylvania Hockey League resumed play for the first time since 1903-04 this season. President A.S. McSwigan of the Duquesne Gardens rink had hoped to organize a new league composed of teams from New York, Brooklyn, Boston, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Columbus, but as only a few of the cities had big indoor rinks, the idea was abandoned.

Spokane, Washington

The Spokane Hockey Club once again entered the Rossland Winter Carnival hockey tournament in British Columbia. There were talks of a Couer d'Alene, Idaho, team playing a practice game against Spokane before their departure for the Carnival.[2] At the tournament, Spokane defeated Coleman (AB) 6-5, but lost 7-5 to Rossland.

Utah

The Heath Hockey Team

It was planned for there to be a series for the Utah State Championship between the Commercial Hockey Club and the Heath Hockey Team. Only one game was played between the teams, on January 5. The Salt Lake Hockey Club was slated to face Heath on January 19, but it appears the game was not played.

Wisconsin

On January 16, 1908, it was reported that Frank Hopkins had been elected captain and Allen Hibbard manager of the Milwaukee Town Club.[3] The Gordons of Milwaukee beat the St. John's Military Academy on February 1.
