The Detroit Arena club was active as an independent team once again in Detroit. The American Amateur Hockey Association was established for the 1913-14 season. Michigan had three teams in the league: Portage Lake HC, Calumet HC, and the American Soo. The Soo won the Western Division and went on to meet Cleveland AC for the MacNaughton Cup, falling to them in a four game series.

The Grand Rapids Hockey League was contested by four teams: the Ramonas, Fergusons, Noblett & Martins, and the Harley Davidsons. The Ramonas won the league, finishing with a record of 11-1.

The Moose of Syracuse
Buffalo Central High School

The American Amateur Hockey League was contested once again in New York City.

The Syracuse Hockey Club enjoyed another successful season, playing an independent schedule against teams from around the United States and Canada. There was also a Syracuse City League in existence. There were initially five teams in the league - Valleys, Battery A, Pastimes, Moose, and L.C. Smith Brothers - but the Valleys disbanded mid-season. The L.C. Smith Brothers won the league title, defeating the Pastimes 2-1 in the tiebreaker final.

Hockey was revived in Grand Forks in 1914 after an absence of several years. Crookston defeated the home team 3-0 in a game that formally opened the new rink in Grand Forks. Grand Forks and Hannah both paid visits to Crookston.

Ohio

The Cleveland Athletic Club had a very successful season, playing a whopping 46 games, in which they won 34, tied 5, and lost 7. They were awarded the $2,000 MacNaughton Cup, as winners of the American Amateur Hockey Association, by virtue of defeating the American Soo (Western US champions) in a four game series.

The Cleveland Amateur Hockey Association was also in existence. The competition, also known as the Midnight Hockey League was composed of six teams, Smith Sheriffs, Marrotta AC, Doan Merchants, Castlewood AC, Bren Bronnell Brothers, and Zidd Tailors. The Marrottas won the championship, and also defeated Shaw High School, winners of the Interscholastic League 1-0, registering the only goal scored against Shaw all season.

The Canton Hockey Club was contested for the fourth year.
