This was the 1914-15 American ice hockey season:
Chicago, Illinois
Ice hockey returned to Chicago this winter for the first time since the 1910-11 season. Games were played outdoors, with the Chicago Ice Palace having closed back in 1911, bringing an end to hockey activities in the city for three years. The Midway Hockey Club received an invitation to play in Houghton, Michigan, on January 21 and 22. They were defeated by the Portage Lake Hockey Club in both games.

The St. Paul Athletic Club was established as an independent team for the 1914-15 season. They were invited to join the American Amateur Hockey Association, but declined, and elected to play an independent schedule for the season. The Duluth Curling Club began the year in the AAHA, but withdrew from the league and played independently after only one game, due to a major disagreement with the antics of the Portage Lake Hockey Club. The Duluth Amateur Hockey League was also contested.
The Minneapolis Park Hockey League was founded, and featured eight teams: Lake Harriet, Minnesota Athletic and Boat Club, Maple Hills, North Commons, Simokons, Vertex, Minnetonkas, and the Camdens. The Vertex won the Struck Cup as league champions.

The Cleveland Athletic Club had another successful season, playing an independent schedule. They won 22 games, lost 4, and tied 3. They won the Eastern Championship with victories over Boston AA and the New Haven Hockey Club. Due to an inability to agree on arrangements, and a rash of injuries that had befallen the club, Cleveland did not face the American Soo for the MacNaughton Cup, ceding it to them by forfeit.
The Cleveland Amateur Hockey League was also in existence, with six teams competing, the Smith Sheriffs, Seibel Drugs, Central Storage, Tabor Ice Cream, Blepp Knits, and the Entente Club. The Young Men's Business Club replaced the Seibel Drugs in the league with four games remaining in the season, and managed a 1-1 tie against Tabor, who were in first place. Central Storage and Tabor were tied for first place at the end of the regular season, and the former team won the tiebreaker game 2-1.
A Cleveland High School Hockey League was contested as well. Shaw High School won the championship with ease. In Canton, the local hockey league was contested again.

The Portland Ice Arena opened on November 9, 1914, giving the city an artificial ice surface where hockey could be played. The Portland Rosebuds were founded and joined the Pacific Coast Hockey Association. They finished in second place, behind the Vancouver Millionaires.
A four-team Portland Amateur Hockey League was also formed. The Multnomah Amateur Athletic Club won the championship, earning the J.D. Farrell Trophy, by virtue of going 5-0. The other teams in the league were the Harriman Club, Rowing Club, and Waverly Country Club, who finished second-fourth, respectively.

On December 15, 1914, six members of the old Spokane Hockey Club held a meeting and reorganized the club, with the intention of playing games this winter. C.E. Robertson was elected captain, and L. Cardiff manager. The Fernie (BC) Intermediates planned to come to Spokane for games against a picked team in February 1915.[1]
A game between two juvenile teams was played on December 25.[2]
Lester Patrick hoped to expand the Pacific Coast Hockey Association to include franchises in Spokane, Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, Vancouver, and Victoria within the next two years.[3] Spokane wound up joining the PCHA in 1916-17, while the Tacoma franchise never materialized.
