Junior hockey in the Czech Republic currently consists of age divisions ranging from U11 to U19.
The U20 and U18 age groups consisted of the Extraliga as the top division, followed by the 1. Liga as the second-level and the Regional Championships as the lowest level.
U12 through U16 are composed of regional championships to start, with the top teams advancing to the national final, where the nationwide champion is crowned.
The U15 and U13 age groups have not been contested since the 2010-11 season. After the 2008-09 season, the U11 division was reformed, with the national championship being abolished.
The U20 competition was known as Juniorů, while the U18 and U16 leagues are called Starší dorost and Mladší dorost, respectively. The U16 Championship was known as 9. trída until 2009. The U11-through-U15 leagues were called 4. trída, 5. trída, 6. trída, 7. trída, and 8. trída. Reform took place for the 2011-12 season, with the U15 competition being disbanded and the U14 championship becoming known as 8. trída. The U15 9. trída competition was played again in 2021-22.
The Juniorů competition was established as a U21 league in 1997 (it became U20 in 2001). Prior to this point Starší dorost and Mladší dorost were the two highest levels of play, at U19 and U17 age groups, respectively.
For the 2018-19 season, the U18 competitions were shelved, and the U20 leagues were dropped down to U19, retaining the name Juniorů.
