Junior hockey in Finland consists of a tiered national league system with age divisions ranging from U16 to U22.
The U22 Suomi-sarja was the sole level of play at that age group from 2020-2023.
The U20 leagues, known as Junior A, have three levels of competition. The top-level SM-Liiga, the second-level Mestis (formerly the I-Divisioona), and the third tier Suomi-Sarja (prior II-Divisioona).
From 2020-2023, the Finnish U19 Leagues were in operation. They consisted of the Suomi-sarja, II-divisioona, and III-divisioona.
U18 in Finland is classified as Junior B. The league system consists of the top-level SM-Sarja, the second-level Mestis (previously the I-Divisioona), and the third-level Suomi-sarja (known in the past as the II-Divisioona). A fourth-level Jr. B III-Divisioona is recorded to have been contested earlier on.
Junior B2 is the name of the U17 competitions in the country. The SM-sarja and Mestis operated until 2020, and since then the Suomi-sarja has been the top level of U17 play.
The Junior C label refers the U16 Finnish leagues. The SM-sarja and Mestis, are the current levels of U16 hockey, with the Suomi-sarja not having been contested since 2020.
Classifications that once held a national championship include Junior D and Junior E.
