Florida

After the collapse of the Tropical Hockey League following the 1938-39 season, hockey did not resume again in Miami until July 14, 1940, when a benefit game for the crippled children's hospital was arranged between Coral Gables and Miami Beach. The Coral Gables Seminoles and Miami Beach Pirates went on to play a series of games against one another, in a so-called Miami Amateur Hockey League. In January, a Miami team was added to the competition. Coral Gables won the championship.

Wichita, Kansas

Ice hockey returned to Wichita on March 14, 1941, with an American Hockey Association game between the St. Louis Flyers and Tulsa Oilers taking place at the Alaskan Ice Palace. St. Louis won, 6-2. There were no games played involving local teams this winter.

Texas

The Houston Amateur League was once again contested in 1940-41. The Rice University Owls won the championship, defeating the Houston University Cougars in a tiebreaker final. The Texas Ice Palace was also open in Beaumont, and the Texas Rangers played an exhibition schedule.
