The 1955-56 Suomi-sarja season was contested as the second tier of Finnish hockey. 20 teams participated in the league, and Kokkolan Jymy won the championship and was promoted alongside HJK Helsinki.

The league was divided into four groups, the winners qualifying for promotion to the SM-sarja.
