This was the 1930-31 season in Soviet bandy:

Leningrad Championship

The Leningrad Championship was played for the ninth consecutive season. 65 teams were divided into nine groups of play. An interesting points system was used once again. In the first group, teams received 6 points for a win and 3 for a draw. In the second group, teams received 5 and 2.5 points, the third 4 and 2, and the fourth 3 and 1.5.

Group 1

The competition was played from January 15 to March 1. Pishchevkus became Uritsky.

Red Putilovets finished first in the club standings.

Group 2

Electrosila finished first and Proletarsky ZD finished second. Both teams earned a right to play in promotion/relegation series' for a chance at spots in Group 1.

Promotion/Relegation

The first game between Electrosila and Zheldor ended in a 3:3 draw, but the former side won the remaining matches and earned a spot in Group 1. VOC defended their spot in Group 1, defeating Proletarsky ZD in three consecutive games after tying the first 2-2.

Moscow Championship

The Moscow Championship was contested for the ninth time in 1931. At the end of 1930, the teams were reorganized into physical culture clubs and societies. The teams were initially entered into District competitions, from which the top clubs advanced to play in the Moscow Championship.

A women's championship was also held, with Dynamo winning the first group and CHTC finishing first in the club standings.

The following teams advanced to the Moscow Championship from the District Championships:

  • Zamoskvoretsky District - CHTC and Goznak
  • Krasnopresnensky District - Dynamo and Trekhgorka
  • Frunzensky District - Krasnaya Roza and Moskompromsovet (renamed Promkooperatsiya in February)
  • Sokolnichesky District - CDKA and Kazan Railway
  • Proletarsky District - Hammer and Sickle and AMO
  • Baumanskiy District - Electrozavod and ZIF

A rather unusual points system was used - 24 points for a victory, 16 points for a draw, and 8 points for a loss. Dynamo also finished first in the club standings with 583 points.
