Note: For later incarnations of the Scottish Junior League, please see Junior hockey in Great Britain.

The Scottish Junior League was formed at Crossmyloof Ice Rink in January 1930 and originally allowed participation of players 11-14 years old.

The Glasgow High School entered a team as the Junior Mohawks, while the Grammar Schools of Queen's Park, Hutcheson's, and Showlands combined to form Junior Queen's.

Glasgow Academy and Kelvinside Academy pooled resources to create the Mohicians, while a fourth club, known as the Sioux, was founded by the end of January 1930.

The league continued on into the 1950s, with various competitions under different names being organized.
