This is a list of early ice hockey games played in Canada between 1875 and 1886. The Montreal Winter Carnival organized the first ice hockey tournament in the country (and the world) in 1883.

Most of the games were played in Quebec, which was undoubtedly the cradle of Canadian hockey in this era. The Ottawa Hockey Club was the first team to be formed outside of Quebec in 1883. They made their competitive debut at the 1884 Montreal Winter Carnival. The first documented game in Nova Scotia took place in Halifax on March 27, 1883. The Halifax Wanderers played an inter-club game (Red vs Blue) in 1884. Also see 1885 Maritimes season and 1886 Maritimes season for activities in the region those years. There were games between the first and second teams of the Ottawa Hockey Club in 1885, and Queen's University and the Royal Military College faced each other in 1886.
