New Brunswick

A carnival was held at the Victoria Skating Rink in Saint John on February 24, 1885. "The first event on the programme was a hockey match between two picked teams from the Victoria club, one captained by Charles Taylor and the other by E.B. McBeath. After an interesting match, which lasted half an hour, the game was won by Capt. Taylor's team, who secured three goals to their competitors' one. L. Rubenstein was referee and W.A. McLauchland and Norman Sederquest judges."[1]
Nova Scotia
Some events were held at Saare's rink on February 26, 1885. "At the conclusion of the race a hockey match was played between two teams of the Wanderers' club, captained by Henry and Oxley, respectively. Henry won the first goal, the remaining three going to Oxley."[2]
The Dartmouth team was noted to have won the first, third and fourth goals of the ricket match with Halifax at Saare's rink on March 10.[3]
"In the winter of 1885, Dartmouth’s new rink attracted enthusiastic crowds to witness our first indoor hockey matches, and to participate in skating carnivals. The management put on three separate carnivals because the cold weather provided ice almost to the end of March."[4]
Prince Edward Island
The first organized ice hockey games in Prince Edward Island were played in Charlottetown in 1885. "The hockey matches and band at the rink on Saturday night attracted a large number of spectators. The match was best two games out of three between the Red badges and White badges of the club. The Reds, under Captain Robins, won the first game in one hour and ten minutes. They also took the second after a shorter contest, notwithstanding the White's, under Captain Moore, played splendidly."[5]
