World Championship

Boston Hockey Club

The Boston Hockey Club was chosen by AAU president Avery Brundage to represent the United States at the 1931 World Ice Hockey Championships in Krynica, Poland, and won the silver medal. They almost forfeited their participation in the tournament due to an inability to raise enough money for the trip, but Charles Adams, owner of the Boston Bruins, announced that he would cover all expenses at the last minute.

Spokane, Washington

The Inland Empire Hockey League was formed for the 1930-31 season. Three teams from Spokane and the Couer d'Alene Eskimos competed in it. Due to mild weather conditions, only three league games were played. The Gonzaga Bulldogs had an ice hockey team this winter, and faced the Adanacs and Eskimos of the Inland League, and Grand Forks, British Columbia.

Texas

Bus McLaughlin of the Dallas Ice Kings

The Tulsa Oilers of the American Hockey Association visited Dallas for a two-game series in mid-January, with the Ice Kings going to Tulsa in late February. The Dallas Ice Kings and the San Antonio Rangers faced one another in some inter-city contests. The Polar Wave Bears and Baytown Oilers played a series at the Polar Wave Ice Palace in Houston. There were talks of forming a Texas Hockey League featuring teams from, Houston, Galveston, Fort Worth, Dallas, and San Antonio.
