Texas

The Houston Amateur League was once again contested at the Polar Wave Ice Palace, and featured five teams for 1939-40. The Texas Ice Palace opened in Beaumont in January 1940, and a local team known as the Texas Rangers was formed.

The Spokane Aces were an independent team formed for the 1939-40 season. They are only recorded to have played in one game. In Yakima, there was a City Hockey League in existence. The season came to an end on February 23, when the rink withdrew playing time for the games. The Sunset Oilers won the championship with a record of 4-2, ahead of Red & White and the Merchants.
