This was the 1924-25 American ice hockey season:

United States Amateur Hockey Association

See: 1924-25 USAHA Season

The United States Amateur Hockey Association returned for its fifth and final season of play in 1924-25. 10 teams, divided into two divisions, competed in the league.

The Palais de Glace opened in Los Angeles, and the California Hockey League was soon established, comprised of three teams.

The planned playing schedule for the North Shore Hockey League

The Illinois Athletic Club planned to hold its first hockey practice on December 27, 1924. The Lake Forest Winter Club and Streeterville were set to play in a North Shore Hockey League match on January 11, 1925, but no score was reported in the local newspapers, and no other games were mentioned. There were plans to establish a league on the south side of the city and stage inter-league matches with teams in the North Shore League, but nothing came of it.

North Shore League Results
  • 1/11: Lake Forest Winter Club - Streeterville

Cleveland, Ohio

The Cleveland Blues competed in the United States Amateur Hockey Association for the 1924-25 season.

The New Haven Bears fielded an independent team this winter. They lost 9-2 to the Berlin Hockey Club in Berlin, New Hampshire, on December 26, 1924.

Massachusetts

At the November 1924 National Hockey League meeting, the NHL approved two new franchises, including its first franchise in the United States of America. Charles Adams of Boston was granted a franchise. The Boston Bruins finished last in the league in their inaugural season, with a record of 6-24. The Boston Athletic Association, Boston Hockey Club, and Boston Maple AA all returned to compete in the United States Amateur Hockey Association as well.

Michigan

The Border Cities Hockey League, made up of teams from Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, was contested again in 1924-25. The Detroit Hockey Club withdrew from the league on January 14, as they held a franchise in the United States Amateur Hockey League, and operated under its jurisdiction, which forbade them from playing Canadian teams, of which there were two in the BCHL.
