The 1964-65 Gruppenliga season was the third season of the Gruppenliga as the third level competition in East Germany.

It is not known whether the two group winners played off in an Eastern Championship or not. An "elimination" game between Seifhennersdorf and Gorlitz, which was played in February 1965, ended 0:3.

Southern Group

BSG Vater Jahn Annaberg-Buchholz and TSG Muldental Wilkau-Haßlau withdrew prior to the start of the season.

Group 2

ASG Vorwärts Crimmitschau II was forced to leave the league after the withdrawal of the first team. ASK Vorwärts Crimmitschau II, another intended participant, folded.
