New York
Some notable independent teams in New York in 1925-26, among others, were the Nichols Hockey Club, Rochester Hockey Club, and the Syracuse Crescents. In March 1926 it was reported there were plans to establish a New York State Hockey League, comprised of teams from Albany, Syracuse, Utica, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and Rochester, for the 1926-27 season.

Portland, Oregon

Major league hockey returned to Portland for the first time since 1918 as the new Portland Rosebuds were born when the Regina Capitals relocated there. They competed in the Western Hockey League for its final season. The Portland Amateur League also resumed play in 1925-26, the Spalding Aces winning the championship.

Spokane, Washington
Spokane formed a hockey team that was sponsored by the Spokane Golf and Skating Club and the Arctic Club. They played their first game against Coeur d'Alene on January 15, 1926. The team became known as the Zips, and went on a tour of British Columbia and Alberta in late January. After three games, it was reported that all teams in the British Columbia Hockey Association who faced the Zips would be suspended. However, their tour continued despite this.

St. Louis, Missouri
The St. Louis Winter Garden hockey team played a game in Springfield, Illinois, as part of the local ice carnival, on January 23, 1926. A game between the Winter Garden team and Springfield (IL), scheduled to be played on January 31, at the Grand Basin of Forest Park in St. Louis, was called off due to the bad condition of the ice.

Texas
On December 17, 1925, the first ice hockey team in Texas practiced at the newly-opened Crystal Palace rink in San Antonio. Sid Cornelius, secretary-manager of the San Antonio Builders' Exchange, organized the team. On January 21, 1926, the first ice hockey game was played in San Antonio, with the Crystal Palace team defeating the Second Army Division 4-3 in double overtime. A week later, the Brooks Field Flyers beat the Second Division 8-5. Brooks Field captured the championship with a 9-1 victory over Crystal Palace on February 5. An Academic Ice Hockey League was also formed at the Crystal Palace, composed of local school teams. The San Antonio Academy captured the championship.
