Spokane, Washington
The Spokane Arctic Club planned to organize a hockey club to face teams from Couer d'Alene and other locales. A game between the Spokane All-Stars and the Couer d'Alene Eskimos was set to take place on January 30, 1927, as part of an ice carnival in Spokane. However, due to a misunderstanding, Couer d'Alene thought the ice was too soft for play, and did not come to Spokane, so a game between two local picked teams was played instead.
The Spokane Hockey Club was organized on February 1, and scheduled a game against Couer d'Alene for the 6th. The teams were set to play a return game on February 13, but no result was reported.

St. Louis, Missouri
On January 2, 1927, the first ice hockey game to be played in St. Louis since 1921 took place outdoors on the Grand Basin in Forest Park, as part of the Silver Skates Ice Carnival. A picked team of St. Louis players faced the Chicago Athletic Association of the Windy City Senior Amateur Hockey League. Chicago AA claimed the game as a win when it was stopped after the second period due to the poor condition of the ice. Three weeks later, the St. Louis team traveled to Springfield, Illinois, where they faced a local team in a hockey game played as part of the Springfield Winter Carnival.

Texas
On December 16, 1926, officials of the ice rinks at San Antonio, Houston, El Paso, and Dallas got together in Houston with the goal of establishing a Texas Hockey League. San Antonio had two hockey teams at the time. In January 1927, there were talks of another circuit including Fort Worth, Dallas, Houston, and Shreveport, Louisiana.
At the Polar Wave Ice Palace in Houston, the Polar Wave Bears faced the Second Division army team from San Antonio on December 11. The Bears and the Crystal Palace team from San Antonio later played in a four-game series. The Gardner Ice Palace opened in Dallas this winter, and the local team was known as the Dallas Ice Kings. The Dallas Ice Kings and the Polar Wave Bears also played a series, with the Bears prevailing, and claiming the championship of the south. The St. Paul Millionaires paid a visit to Texas in February, playing in Dallas and Houston.
The first game in El Paso took place at the Arctic Ice Palace on February 23, 1927. The Southern Pacific Trainmen and Fort Bliss Machine Gun Canadians played a three-game series which proved to be very popular among the locals, and the Border Ice Hockey League was soon formed, beginning play in mid-March.
