The Qatar International Ice Hockey League (QIIHL) is a competition held in Qatar. It was first played in 2003.
History
The QIIHL was founded in 2003 by Lance Mierendorf and Richard Labrosse. Games were initially played at Doha's City Center Mall ice rink. They played four-on-four and used a ball, for fear of flying pucks causing damage to the mall.
The league moved to the Gondolania Ice Rink at the Villagio Shopping Mall in Doha after it opened. Due to the different levels of play the league is divided into two divisions (A and B). Since 2007 the Desert Cup is also played in the country.
