Desert Cup

The Desert Cup is an international ice hockey tournament that has been staged at the Villagio Ice Rink in Doha, Qatar, since 2007 and currently consists of B and C divisions.

The Dubai Mighty Camels won the inaugural edition of the Desert Cup, staged from March 29-31, 2007. The Qatar Canucks 1 claimed the 2008 tournament over their fellow Canucks 2 side with a 4-1 win in the final. The 2009 Desert Cup was won by the Al Ain Vipers, who defeated the Abu Dhabi Scorpions 5-1 to earn the trophy.

The CNAQ Breakers won the B Division for four straight years from 2010 to 2013. The Gensler Giants from Abu Dhabi claimed the C Division in 2013, ending a three year run of titles for the Bahrain Sharks.[1] The Dubai Camels ended the CNAQ Breakers B Division-dominance in 2014 with a 5-4 victory over them in the final. The Qatar Breakers claimed the C Division by defeating the Qatar Canucks 3-2.[2]

At the 2015 tournament, the Bahraini GCC Aeros won the B Division over the Qatar Canucks while the Qatar Oryx claimed the C Division by defeating the Qatar Raiders. Teams from Bahrain, Kuwait, Dubai and Saudi Arabia took part in the competition.[3]
