Wiener EV announced in mid-January that it was dissolving its senior team due to poor results on the ice (a 4-3 defeat against WJSV and a 2-2 draw against Leoben) as well as a lack of discipline in other areas. Some players were suspected of having taken advantage of a tour in Poland to smuggle watches, even if they were not punished due to a lack of evidence. The games involving WEV were erased from the standings. The club did not return to the Nationalliga until 1960-61.
