Excerpt from the Ice Hockey World Annual 1950/51:
"HIGHLIGHT of English junior hockey during 1949-50 was the B.I.H.A. Knock-out Tournament staged at Richmond on Tuesday, March 7.
Eight teams from Richmond, Brighton, Harringay, Streatham, and Wembley thrilled a crowded house with nearly four hours continuous hockey, and in the final Wembley Colts defeated Streatham Indians 2-0.
The Young Britain League, coached by Greg Ward, continued to foster the young idea, while an English Junior League was formed on a sound footing.
Wembley and Streatham proved easily the strongest of these youthful outfits and had a great tussle for honours before the North Londoners merged narrow winners.
Nottingham encouraged their youngsters by offering them ice facilities for the first time, and at Brighton a new drive for home-bred talent was a starter."
