1939-40 in Western Ukrainian hockey

This was the 1939-40 season in Western Ukrainian hockey:

Lviv Championship

From February 4-11, 1940, on the ice rinks of Dynamo and Spartak there were matches for the championship of Lviv in ice hockey. 18 teams, divided into two groups took part, playing a total of 52 games. After interesting games the winner of the Class A and champion of Lviv became the Dynamo team, which in the final defeated Spartak 4:2. Spartak II finished in third place. In the Class B final, the Institute of Soviet Trade defeated XI Gymnasium 4:1. The competition showed a high level of hockey players, and in particular the teams of XI, XII and VI Gymnasium were promising.

Lviv Inter-School Championship

There were hockey matches with the participation of 12 teams, numbering 110 players. After 3 days of competition, three teams, XI Gymnasium, XII Gymnasium and Ukrainian Gymnasium, qualified for the final. As a result of the final matches, XI won the title of champion, defeating XII 7:2 (0:0, 4:2, 3:0). The runner-up was Ukrainian Gymnasium, which defeated XII 1:0 (0:0, 1:0, 0:0).
