The Blackpool Icedrome Trophy (also known simply as the Blackpool Tournament) was a British home tournament played in Blackpool and hosted by the Blackpool Seagulls.
History
The tournament consisted of the Seagulls meeting various oppositions on their home ice with the top team returning to play against them in the final. For nearly 30 years the tournament was regarded as a haven for opposition teams lacking ice time. A Lancashire hotpot supper was provided after the game.
Liverpool won the first incarnation of the tournament in 1952, but after that it took eight years for the Seagulls to cede the trophy, when they eventually lost to the Perth Black Hawks.
- 1952 participants: Blackpool Seagulls, Liverpool Leopards, Earls Court Marlboroughs, Nottingham Wolves, Harringay Hornets, Durham Wasps.
