This was the 1901-02 season in Austria-Hungary:

Results

The Ofen-Pester Eislaufverein, which formed an ice hockey section and began practicing the sport in December 1899, planned to play its first matches against other teams in 1901-02.[1]

Austria

The Währinger Bicycle Club established an ice hockey section in December 1901, as did the Hitzinger Sport Club. The Training Eis Club was also active that winter.

Bohemia

Primatoreninsel Prag, DARTV Prag, and SK Slavia Praha were among the active teams in Bohemia in 1901-02.

Hungary

The well-known football player, R.E. Wagner, who had previously played bandy with the Training Eis Club in Vienna, took over the training of the BKE Budapest bandy club. The club board decided to make ice hockey an integral part of the program. Games involving three inter-squad teams were planned for the season.[2]

On December 15, 1901, it was reported that BKE had arranged to face SK Slavia Praha and TEC in Vienna. The games did not come to fruition.[3]
