The 1973-74 Oberliga season was the first season of the league as the third level of ice hockey in Germany. EC Peiting won the Southern Group while EC Hannover claimed the Northern Group.

  • Münchener EV von 1883 was going to be relegated to the Regionalliga, but retained their spot in the Oberliga for 1974-75 as EC Holzkirchen and DEC Frillensee voluntarily dropped down to the Regionalliga.
