The Siam Hockey League was established as the national ice hockey league in Thailand for the 2016-17 season, replacing the Thai World Hockey League, which folded in 2015. The league season runs from November through April, while the Bangkok Ice Hockey League is contested from May-September. Four teams (Sport Corner-Titanium, Aware, Sukhumvit Spitfires, and Hooters Nana) participated in the competition in its inaugural season.
