The 1939-40 Latvian Championship was the ninth season of the national ice hockey competition in Latvia. It was contested by three teams, and US Riga won the championship

Lightning Tournament

  • 1/7: ASK Riga - US Riga II walkover - four US II players were playing for the first club
  • 1/7: ASK Riga - US Riga 1:1 (0:1, 0:0, 1:0) - final - OT not played due to extreme cold
  • 2/7: US Riga - ASK Riga 4:2 (2:0, 0:1, 2:1) - final replay

Despite losing to US in the finals, ASK became the official winners of the tournament as US had more substitutes (four) than tournament rules allowed.
