The Scottish Amateur Ice Hockey League was a competition held in Scotland during the 1955-56 season. It was formed after all the Scottish teams save the Paisley Pirates withdrew from the British National League.
Five teams participated in the league. The Falkirk Lions won the playoffs for the Scottish Cup with a 13-1 trouncing of the Edinburgh Royals. The top four teams from the Coronation Cup, which began in late December, qualified for the playoffs. The first part of the season, which concluded in December, was known as the National League.
The following trophies were also competed for in 1955-56: Bairns Trophy (Falkirk-based), Canada Cup (Ayr-based), and the Simpson Trophy (Perth-based).
After one season of play, the league folded as the rink directors deemed there to be an insufficient number of teams for a viable competition to be staged.
