History
The club was founded in 1977 within the Association Jeune France de Cholet. In 1992, the club gained its autonomy. Initially moving to Division 3 for their first season in 1992–93, they joined the 2nd Division at the end of the 1993–94 season after finishing second in D3. The 1996-97 season allowed them to reach the 1st division after their winning the title of French Champion D2. However, at the end of the 2000-01 season, the Dogs were relegated to 2nd Division. After coming close several times in qualification for D1, the Dogs won the D2 championship in 2012-13, and were promoted to D1.
The Dogs de Cholet began in the French third league some time in the mid-1970s. While it isn't clear what their inaugural year was, the team was active at least by the 1976–77 season. The club played in the league until 1982 when they withdrew from the league. The team was brought back in 1986 when the French fourth league was created. In 1994, the team received a promotion back to Division 2. Just 4 years later, the Dogs won the league championship and joined Division 1 (French second league) for the first time. The team was not very successful following their first championship, saving themselves in relegation several times before finally dropping back down to Division 2 in 2001. The Dogs de Cholet (Les Dogs) are a French professional ice hockey team in Cholet, that plays in FFHG Division 1.

History

It took the club quite a bit longer to earn their second championship but, in 2013, Cholet won their second title and were promoted back to FFHG Division 1.[1] Since then, the team has been a middling team but usually makes an appearance in the league playoffs.
