VERC Lauterbach
VERC Lauterbauch (Vogelsberger Eis- und Rollerschuh-Club Lauterbach) was an ice hockey team based in Lauterbauch, Germany.
Before the founding of VERC, training already took place on a pond in Sickendorf near Lauterbach, which led to the establishment of an ice hockey department within the HAS (sports club of the villages of Heblos, Allmenrod and Sickendorf) in 1961. After the first game in Sickendorf against a team from Fulda, which was lost, the return match in Fulda was won. When the pond in Sickendorf was no longer available, a move to Lauterbach was planned.
For the first time in the 1963-64 season, an ice hockey team from VERC participated in the Hessian State League, and faced opponents such as TEV Kronberg, Eintracht Frankfurt 1b, and REC Heppenheim . In the 1964-65 season, they qualified for the promotion playoffs to the then-named Gruppenliga.
VERC would compete mainly in the Oberliga and the Regionalliga from 1965-2009 (with multiple stretches of inactivity), though they did spend the 1983-84 and 1985-86 seasons in the 2nd Bundesliga, and 1995-96 in the 1. Liga. The club folded after the 2008-09 season.
