The Total TV Hockey League (also known as the Open Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina) was a multi-national ice hockey league in the Balkan region of Europe that operated for the 2012 season only. The league is named after its sponsor, Total TV, which is a Macedonian television company.

History

The league was started in early 2012, and had four teams slated to participate: HK Bosna from Bosnia and Herzegovina, HK Skopje from Macedonia, Red Star Sofia from Bulgaria, and Iraklis Thessaloniki from Greece. The league was originally going to be played in six tournaments, four in Skopje and two in Sarajevo, to reduce the costs of traveling.

The Balkan Ice Hockey Union, founded in 2011 to promote ice hockey growth in the Balkans, administered the league. Representatives from the IIHF were present for the first game.

Total TV, a Macedonian television company, provided sponsorship for the league, hence it being called the "Total TV Hockey League." In Macedonia, games were telecast on the MTV1 channel.

The first game was played on January 14, 2012, at the Boris Trajikovski Ice Hall in Skopje. Iraklis Thessaloniki defeated HK Skopje by a final score of 5-4. The second game was also held in Skopje at the Ice rink Kale on January 20, 2012. HK Bosna beat HK Skopje 9-2. HK Bosna defeated HK Skopje 3-1 two days later on January 22. Another game between the two teams was scheduled to be played on the 21st, but was cancelled due to poor ice conditions.

After only three games were played, the league was cancelled due to adverse circumstances. A harsh winter made it difficult for teams to travel to the games, and a heavy snowfall in Sarajevo caused the roof to collapse at Olympic Hall Zetra, HK Bosna's home rink. In total, HK Skopje played three games, HK Bosna played two games, Iraklis Thessaloniki played one game, and Red Star Sofia didn't play in any games.
