The The Soviet Ice Hockey Federation was the governing body of ice hockey in the Soviet Union. It was organized in 1946 under the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports under the Council of Ministers of the USSR and the Central Committee of DOSAAF. Since 1952 it was a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation.

History

  • The All-Union Hockey Section was founded in 1928 and was engaged in holding the USSR bandy championship. However, in 1946, the All-Union Union of Artists was also charged with holding the ice hockey championship.
  • In 1946-1959 it was called the All-Union Hockey Section.
  • On April 1, 1952, it was accepted into the LIHG (International Ice Hockey Federation).
  • June 30 - July 1, 1959 at the Constituent Plenum of the All-Union Union of Artists, it was transformed into the Federation of Ice Hockey and Bandy of the USSR.
  • On October 17, 1967, it was divided into two independent organizations - the USSR Ice Hockey Federation (ice hockey) and the USSR Bandy and Field Hockey Federation.
  • On March 17, 1990, at an extraordinary founding conference, the FHSSSR acquired the status of a public-state organization and became an independent legal entity.
  • On January 28, 1992, at the last meeting of the FHSSR Executive Committee, a decision was made to dissolve the Federation.
  • January 28 - May 22, 1992, instead of the USSR Ice Hockey Federation, the Council of Presidents - Chairmen of the Ice Hockey Federations of the CIS countries (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan) acted.
  • Formally, the Section/Federation managed the holding of domestic competitions in ice hockey (and in 1947-1967 also in bandy) and the preparation of the national teams of the country. In fact, it performed mainly representative functions, and the real management of hockey was carried out by the appropriate management of the Sports Committee (Goskomsport) of the USSR.
